Bollywood fans have been in for a treat for the past two months as plethora of new movies arrived in theatres. From romance to comedy to social drama,
we got movies of various genres to pick and choose from. It all started with Anurag Basu's Metro In Dino (July 4), which charmed audiences with its soulful songs, following by Mohit Suri's box office phenomenon Saiyaara (July 18). Then came the two sequels, Dhadak 2 and Son Of Sardaar 2, both releasing on August 1. Now as all of these movies are approaching the end of their theatrical runs, people are getting curious about their OTT releases. Here's taking a look at when and where can you expect to watch Saiyaara, Metro In Dino, Dhadak 2, and Son Of Sardaar 2 on OTT.
Saiyaara OTT Release
Starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, this Mohit Suri love story struck a chord with audiences like no other movie has in recent times. Made on a decent budget, this Yash Raj Films production catapulted into a Rs 300 crore blockbuster. Not only Saiyaara emerged as the highest-grossing romantic film in Bollywood, it also proved to be biggest success featuring newcomers. Coming to its OTT release, it will be streaming on Netflix. However, the official streaming date is yet to be announced. As per reports, Saiyaara is expected to drop on Netlfix mid-September.
Metro In Dino OTT Release
A spiritual sequel Anurag Basu's Life In A Metro, Metro In Dino did not meet box office expectations. However, the multi-starrer received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, with its album turning out to be a chartbuster. Starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Neena Gupta, and Anupam Kher, the musical will reportedly premiere on Netflix late August or early September.
Dhadak 2 OTT Release
Dhadak 2 pairs Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri in a hard-hitting love story. Helmed by Shazia Iqbal, the Dharma Productions film is an official remake of Tamil classic Pariyerum Perumal. The story follows Neelesh, a young law student battling caste-based discrimination, and Vidhi, an affluent woman torn between love and social barriers. The film earned critical praise for its sensitive storytelling and performances but that did not translate to box office numbers. While Netflix will be its digital home, the streaming date is reportedly expected to be between September 12 and September 26.
Son Of Sardaar 2 OTT Release
Son Of Sardaar 2, a sequel to the 2012 comedy, brought back Ajay Devgn as Jassi, alongside Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, and Mukul Dev in his final on-screen role. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film clashed with Dhadak 2 at the box office and received mixed reviews, thus resulting in an underwhelming box office performance. Nonetheless, fans are waiting to catch the Ajay Devgn film on OTT now. The digital streaming rights have been acquired by Netflix and the film is likely to start streaming towards the end of September.
