What is the story about?
Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is one of the highly-awaited releases of this year. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash in key roles, the mythological
epic has been mounted on a big budget. The makers kick-started promotions for the movie months before its scheduled release date. Kajal Aggarwal, known for doing South and Bollywood films, is an integral part of the ensemble cast. She has come on board to portray the role of Ravana's wife, Mandodari. In her latest interview, the actress shared her experience of working on this magnum opus.
Kajal Aggarwal on Ramayana
Speaking to Variety India, Kajal revealed her experience working on Ramayana was different because it was a 'technically superior' production. The actress shared that the Nitesh Tiwari directorial is something India has never witnessed earlier. She further shared, "And as actors, it's pretty much the first time that we're doing something like this."
The actress added that Ramayana is intrinsically an Indian story, which is close to everyone's hearts. For the unversed, the mythological epic, produced by Prime Focus Studios, DNEG and Monster Mind Creations, will be made into two parts. It features Ranbir as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, and Yash as demon king Ravana. Sunny Deol is associated with the project as Lord Hanuman, while Ravie Dubey will be seen as Lord Lakshman.
Ranbir Kapoor says Ramayana 'changed my life'
Meanwhile, in an interview with Top Magazine, Ranbir admitted that Ramayana was a life-defining project for him. The actor said that this film got him closer to underting Lord Rama's journey and Ramayana in general. He further spoke about the positive changes that it brought into his life. Ranbir stated that the film not only changed his bad habits, but his value system as well.
The Bollywood actor also reflected on how fatherhood and Ramayana together made the experience more meaningful for him. He mentioned that his daughter Raha made him a better person and the film wanted him to be a better person for his baby girl.
Kajal Aggarwal's work front
On the work front, Kajal was last seen in Mukesh Kumar Singh's Kannappa. The movie, produced by Mohan Babu, was theatrically released on June 27 last year. The actress had a cameo appearance in it. She was also a part of AR Murugadoss' Sikandar, which starred Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles. The actress played the character of Vaidehi.
