Rajinikanth addressed the media at the Chennai airport where he revealed details about his next project.
Did Rajinikanth Drop Major Hint About Film With Kamal Haasan?
When asked about his reunion with Kamal Haasan, the 'Coolie actor said that they are interested on joining hands, but the script and director are yet to be decided. Speaking to the media, he said, "I am doing a film with Raaj Kamal Films International and Red Giant Movies next." When prodded if he was excited about collaborating with Kamal Haasan for the project, he said, "Director hasn't been decided yet. It's my wish to act with him. But, we need a proper script and character. The plan is there. We're yet to decide on the director."
Earlier this month, Kamal Haasan spoke about their project which marks their reunion after 46 years.
At the award show in Dubai, he said, "We were united long ago, but chose to remain apart because they [directors] kept splitting a biscuit and giving us only half each. We wanted a full biscuit, and we got it and relished it well. Now we are content with just half a biscuit again, so we have come together."
It was reported that director Lokesh Kanagaraj will helm the project. However, going by Rajinikanth's statement, it looks like the director is yet to be finalised.
Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth were last seen in Alavuddinum Atbhutha Vilakkum, which released in 1979. Lokesh Kanagaraj was supposed to direct a film with them. However, it didn't take off due to the pandemic.
Rajinikanth was last seen in Coolie, which was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film also featured Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan and Sathyaraj in lead roles with Aamir Khan in a cameo.
