Kristen Stewart has never shied away from speaking her mind. The Twilight actress' latest comments are hinting towards the inevitable - a mass exodus of
Hollywood stars from the US. The Oscar-nominated star recently revealed that she may not continue living in the United States, citing an increasingly restrictive environment that affects her ability to work freely. Stewart’s remarks come at a time when several prominent celebrities are choosing to leave America, with many relocating to Europe. Her recent stance adds to an expanding list of artists who are re-evaluating their future in the US and their relationship with Hollywood.
Kristen Stewart will not stay in the US
In a recent interview with The Times of London, Stewart admitted that she will “probably not” stay in the United States as Donald Trump continues to shape the political climate. “Reality is breaking completely under Trump,” she said, adding that people should “create the reality we want to live in.”
When asked directly whether she would remain in the US, the Spencer star was candid. “Probably not. I can’t work freely there,” Stewart explained. However, she clarified that she does not plan to abandon American cinema entirely. Instead, she expressed a desire to make films in Europe and then bring them back to US audiences, saying she would like to "shove them down the throat of the American people."
Stewart’s discomfort with Trump is not new. In 2012, the former president repeatedly posted about her personal life on X (previously Twitter), urging her then-boyfriend Robert Pattinson to break up with her. Kristen had later called Trump 'obsessed' in a Variety interview.
Celebs who have left Hollywood
Stewart now joins a growing list of celebrities who have left or are planning to leave the US amid Trump’s second presidency. Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi have permanently relocated to the UK, while Rosie O’Donnell has also moved out of America. Filmmaker James Cameron, who shifted to New Zealand for his Avatar franchise, has stated that he is unlikely to return to the US, saying he is not in the country for scenery, he is there for sanity.
Other notable figures have made similar choices. Game of Thrones actor Sophie Turner returned to the UK, influenced in part by the political environment. George and Amal Clooney have confirmed they are leaving the US after becoming French citizens. Meanwhile, House of Cards star Robin Wright moved to the UK, describing the situation in America as a “s—t show.”
With these celebrities choosing to move out of the US, we might soon see more Hollywood stars giving up life of fame in America to embrace sanity and peace outside.
