What is the story about?
Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar 2 has been making headlines since its release on March 19. Apart from its record-breaking box office run, the spy thriller is
also in the limelight for 'peak detailing' in casting. Actor Abhay Arora, who plays Yasir, the younger brother of gangster Arshad Pappu, recently addressed the ongoing speculation about whether people from Pakistan's Lyari were part of the film. He confirmed that yes, some of the crowd scenes, particularly those shot in Bangkok, did involve people who originally come from Lyari. These were not actors flown in from Pakistan but Bangkok-based residents of Lyari origin who were part of the local casting for background and crowd sequences.
Pakistani-Origin Actors In Dhurandhar 2
Clarifying the speculation, Abhay Arora told NDTV that during the Bangkok schedule, some of the crowd members, people walking in the background, and those seen cheering on stage, were cast locally. Among them were individuals who had originally come from Lyari, Pakistan, and now reside in Bangkok.
He noted that when these people arrived on set, many of them remarked that the setup looked just like Lyari. Their familiarity with the environment was noticeable, and Abhay recalled that some of them were genuinely surprised at the level of detail the production had managed.
Despite none of the core team having visited Lyari personally, the set design reportedly struck these Bangkok-based Lyari residents as remarkably accurate. Abhay added that almost all the Bangkok crowd scenes had some of these faces in them.
