In a recent interview, Matt Damon confessed that while working on Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, he felt like it would be his ‘last movie ever’. Matt Damon Is All Praise For Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey
In an interview with TIME Magazine, Matt Damon shared his views on his next with Nolan, The Odyssey. For the unversed, Matt and Nolan have earlier worked together on the film Interstellar. While speaking about his experience working on the filmmaker’s next movie, Matt Damon said that it was the most rewarding experience of his career.
According to Damon, movies like The Odyssey will not be made anymore. He gave an example of David Lean, who would make films without a green screen. He compared Nolan with Lean and said that he doesn’t know anybody with the exception of Christopher Nolan, who is trying to do that.
Matt Damon said, “There aren’t a lot of people in their mid-50s as protagonists in these epics. I looked at this like the last movie I’d ever do.” The actor feels that the film will definitely give a different and special experience to the audience in theatres. He has a strong belief in Nolan’s vision.
About The Odyssey
The Odyssey is an epic fantasy action film written and directed by Christopher Nolan. It is an adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey. The filmmaker started working on the project in March 2024. He announced the film in December 2024 and started casting for it in 2025.
Nolan shot The Odyssey from February to August 2025 in Morocco, Greece, Italy, Scotland, Iceland, Western Sahara and Malta. Some of the portions of the film were shot inside the studio in Los Angeles. It is considered as the most expensive film of Christopher Nolan’s career. It has reportedly been made on a budget of USD 250 million. Apart from that, The Odyssey turned out to be the first film to be shot entirely on IMAX’s 70 mm film camera. The film is scheduled to be released on July 17, 2026, in theatres.
