SS Rajamouli’s next film, Varanasi, has been making headlines for several reasons. Ever since the makers shared the first glimpse of the film, fans can’t
keep calm to watch the film in theatres in April 2027. The Baahubali director is yet to finish the shooting of the film. According to the latest report, the makers had to cancel Varanasi’s international schedule due to the ongoing Middle East conflict. They have now shifted the set to Shamshabad, where Jr NTR’s Devara was shot. Rajamouli doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned to make the film a visual spectacle on the big screen.
Varanasi Outdoor Shoot Schedule Cancelled
According to a Filmfare report, SS Rajamouli cancelled their planned shoot in the Middle East region due to ongoing conflict between the US-Israel and Iran. The production has now been shifted to Hyderabad. A complete schedule recently took place on the set in Kondapur’s aluminum factory.
After that, the team is moving to Shamshabad for their upcoming portions of Varanasi. For the unversed, Jr NTR’s Devara was also shot in Shamshabad. For the film, a specialised set resembling a deep sea was built using blue matt technology.
SS Rajamouli and the team of Varanasi is utilising the same techical backdrop for their current schedule. It has to be noted that the ongoing tension in the Middle East region is affecting big-budget projects. A few days ago, the schedules of Jr NTR’s Dragon, Allu Arjun’s Raaka and Shah Rukh Khan’s King were also cancelled due to the war.

Varanasi is one of the most awaited pan-India projects in Indian cinema. It marks Priyanka Chopra’s comeback to Indian films. Varanasi also stars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the pivotal roles.
Varanasi has been shot in several locations like India, Kenya, Antarctica and so on. SS Rajamouli wants to make the film on a grand scale. It is expected to break several records at the box office in 2027. The makers announced the release date of the film a few weeks ago.
Varanasi will be released on April 7, 2027, in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Before Varanasi, SS Rajamouli delivered one of the biggest hits of Indian cinema, RRR. The pan-India project starred Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in the lead roles.
