of the actor-turned-now Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, it is a reason enough for his followers to flock to cinema halls on the first day, first show, to root, support and express their love for the superstar. From showing C Joseph Vijay's standees with garlands and flowers, to celebratory scenes inside the theatres, the film received a thumping welcome in every city, given how it released after a lot of delay. Many were also seen offering prayers and performing puja outside the theatres.

Videos from all over the country started flooding the internet in no time. The scenes were no less than a huge celebration with hundreds gathering to mark the festival. ANI videos showed fans dancing in and outside the cinema halls with dhol and music.
According to PTI, many performed aartis and came with coconuts and diyas. Others offered milk and sweets to Vijay's posters. A girl was flaunting a tattoo of Vijay, which she got especially for her favourite cine star. Many theatres started running overnight to accommodate maximum shows of the film. Starting 12:30 AM on July 23, Chennai screens were reserved only for Thalapathy.

The film is expected to be a grand cinematic experience and an emotional farewell to one of the biggest stars in Tamil cinema for millions of fans across India and abroad. Vijay had earlier announced that he would retire from acting after completing Jana Nayagan to devote himself completely to his political party, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
Directed by H. Vinoth, who has earlier directed films like Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai, Jana Nayagan is a blend of commercial action and political themes.

Though the makers kept the plot details under wraps until the release, cinephiles believed it focuses on a charismatic leader who champions corruption, power struggles and social injustice, inspiring ordinary people to stand up and fight for change. The title, which is short for "People's Leader," only added fuel to the speculation that the film mirrors themes of leadership and public service, without directly depicting Vijay's real-life political journey.
