What is the story about?
The much awaited Battle Of Galwan teaser, released on December 27, on the occasion of Salman Khan's 60th birthday. Though the 1 minute 12 second video
footage instilled further excitement for the actual release, it was taken as a bit of disappointment among the Chinese. Many allege the film distorts history, true facts, and account of events that occurred on the battlefield. Now recently, in an interview, Ashoke Pandit, Chief Advisor of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has backed the film, giving his views on the criticism mentioning that 'there is nothing wrong with it. We have the right to make a film like this on the subject.'
Ashoke Pandit backs Battle Of Galwan teaser amid controversy
During an interview with Hindustan Times, Ashoke Pandit has slammed the Chinese allegations of alleged distortion of the events. He explained, "We are not surprised or shocked that the media in China has responded to Galwan film in such a way... If a filmmaker or production house decides to give depiction of confrontation of India and China, there is nothing wrong with it. I don’t think isse iski release par koi asar padega as far as release or collection is concerned. It must have been in the minds of the producers that because it is Galwan, China would react because it is a film that is exposing them. We have the right to make a film like this on the subject and tell the world that this is what China has done to our country."
He concluded with, "China is a country that has supported Pakistan, has created a lot of issues and problems for our country. Its a great thing that this film is made. If the film is good it will do well."
What did the Chinese experts claim?
Citing Chinese military expert Song Zhongping, the Global Times claimed that "India's use of films, especially Bollywood productions, to stir nationalistic sentiment is unsurprising, reflecting a deeply rooted cultural and political tradition." An excerpt from Song's allegations in the report reads, "No matter how films dramatize or embellish events, they cannot change the core facts of the Galwan Valley incident: India crossed the border first, and the PLA defended China's territory in accordance with the law." Song added, "No matter how 'over-the-top' a drama may be, a nation's sacred territory will never be affected by a film."
Salman's global fandom is waiting for the release on April 17, 2026. Battle Of Galwan is said to be inspired by the 2020 India‑China clash in the Galwan Valley.
