Ajay Devgn Confirms Drishyam 3 Is The Conclusion
Ajay Devgn has confirmed that Drishyam 3, officially titled Drishyam: The Conclusion, is intended to be the final chapter of the franchise. Speaking at the trailer launch, the actor revealed that making a third instalment was never a certainty, as the team needed a story that could naturally take Vijay Salgaonkar’s journey forward.
Ajay explained, “I think after 2, we didn't know if this film would be made or not. Because this is not a film where you work out a script and make a sequel.” According to the actor, the challenge was to remain within the world of Drishyam while finding a fresh narrative with enough twists to keep audiences invested.
The idea for the third film eventually came from director Abhishek Pathak, who worked extensively with the writers to develop the screenplay. Praising the filmmaker’s efforts, Ajay said, “He worked very hard, and he came out with a script, which I really think was brilliant.” The team ultimately felt that the story had reached the right point for the franchise to conclude. Ajay also stressed that continuing beyond this chapter could potentially dilute the impact of the series.
When asked whether Drishyam 3 would definitely be the end, Ajay kept the door slightly open while maintaining that the upcoming film is currently planned as the conclusion.“For now, it's the conclusion. No one knows what will happen tomorrow. But at the moment, I am sure this is the conclusion,” he said. He further explained his approach to ending the franchise, saying, “I don't think that you should even attempt to go beyond this. Everything, if you leave it at the top, that's the best thing.”
Drishyam 3 Release Date And Cast
Drishyam 3 is scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 2, 2026. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the crime thriller brings back Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, alongside Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor and Ishita Dutta. The third instalment also introduces Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj to the franchise. Unlike the earlier Hindi films, Drishyam 3 is not a direct remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam Drishyam 3, making the upcoming chapter an original continuation of Vijay Salgaonkar’s story.
