Sayani Gupta calls Arya a career milestone
Sharing her excitement with Zoom, Sanati explained how Arya is like a welcome progression in her career. "This was the right progression and was always on the cards. I did British films and shows. So Arya is not the first in that sense. But it is my first US production. My first "In and As..." (laughs)", she stated. "It's definitely a career milestone. Hopefully first of many."
In Arya, Sayani Gupta plays Arya Sinha, a disciplined piano teacher from an elite Indian conservatory. She gets a job in northern Minnesota, where she hopes to revive a struggling school band program and also further her own professional ambitions back in India. But when Arya encounters a setting that is so different from her own, her carefully controlled life begins to fall apart.
Throughout the film, Arya must learn to let go of her need for control, and to gain a different sense of ambition and success.
Sayani was waiting for the right film 'to go to West'
Expressing how Arya allowed her to become part of a great story, she added, "What's important is storytelling and being able to be a medium for different kinds of stories. This one is such an incredible one. I have waited for the right film to go to West. And it has paid off. I cannot wait for the world to see what we have shot and tried to create."
