Soha Ali Khan does not need an introduction. The actress, who is also a proud mother and author, has now added another feather to her cap with podcasting.
She has launched her own channel on YouTube, All About Her. In an exclusive chat with Zoom, Soha opened up about what inspired her to take this step, the work that went into it, and her vision for the project.
Unfiltered Soha Ali Khan!
Shedding light on the beginning of this new chapter, Soha told Zoom, “Actually, the truth of the matter is that I am now in my 40s and I feel like my body and my mind is going through a lot this year. And I personally met a lot of people—whether it was gynecologists, hormone experts, nutritionists, skin exp therapists. I spent a lot of money this year on my wellness. And I thought these have been really enriching conversations. And I understand that not everybody has access to these minds. And also the friends that I have, the people that I know. You speak to experts, and you speak to friends, and you ask, ‘Are you also going through this? Because I am.’ So that community is really quite special. And I thought, let me try and get this community together. Let's record some episodes and let's share them with other people who I really feel might benefit from conversations like this. And that's how All About Her came about.”
Since this was a personal project and not backed by any brand, company, or platform, Soha had to put everything together on her own. She explained, “The initial groundwork was to, I mean, I've never done something like this because I'm not working with any brand. I'm not working with any company. I'm not working with any platform. This was just something that I wanted to invest my own money in. I put it together and then see where to go with it. So I had to budget this. I had to think about how much money I can spend on this. I had to find the right team, somebody to write these episodes with, somebody to shoot it, somebody to execute my vision and then put a list of the subjects that we want to talk about.”
The actress was clear from the start about the format she wanted to follow. She told us, “I was very clear that I want two people on the podcast. I want an expert who will actually give us concrete takeaways that are credible, that are reliable, not just airwaves. And then we have some phenomenal women who are relatable, who are role models, who are celebrities or not, but authentic people who will tell us about their journeys and mix the two together. So then I made a list of my wish list of people, most of which I was fortunate enough to get. Then we started shooting.”

Like every new venture, launching a podcast came with uncertainties. When asked whether she ever feared failure, Soha admitted that she too had moments of doubt. But she quickly added that her reasons for starting the podcast were not driven by money or fame. She added, “I also had an idea that I want to do this not to make money and not to gain popularity. I want people to see it, of course. So I wanted to reach as many people. And so I do want it to be a success from that point of view, but it's on YouTube; it's for free. And the idea is to build a community because I have other avenues of making money, whether it's through brand deals, whether it's through film work, whether it's through my social media engagements. And this, I wanted to carve out and invest as opposed to think about monetisation. Let me first put some money into it and build it. So the idea is really to build something slowly and not to think about what is trending and what is popular and what is successful.”
