JioHotstar has unveiled the trailer of Hunkkaar: The Roar, a gripping socio-thriller and courtroom drama that explores the messy intersection of truth,
power and perception. At its centre is 17-year-old Meenu Rawat, played by Aneet Padda, a student who accuses powerful godman Baapji, portrayed by Raghubir Yadav, of assault. Fatima Sana Shaikh steps in as investigating officer ACP Jasleen Singh Soni, tasked with uncovering the truth behind Meenu’s allegations. As the case moves from police investigation to courtroom confrontation and media scrutiny, Meenu refuses to fit the familiar image of a ‘perfect victim’, making her unpredictable, defiant and impossible to neatly categorise.

The trailer of Hunkkaar: The Roar introduces viewers to Meenu Rawat, a 17-year-old student at the Mahasherni School inside Baapji’s Shaburi Fort. Her life takes a disturbing turn when she accuses Baapji, a powerful godman, of assault.
Fatima Sana Shaikh appears as ACP Jasleen Singh Soni, the investigating officer handling the case. The trailer opens with her asking Meenu to recount what happened, setting the stage for an investigation where uncovering the truth proves far more complicated than expected.
Played by Aneet Padda, Meenu emerges as a defiant and unpredictable young woman who refuses to conform to conventional ideas of how a victim should behave. Rather than presenting her as a straightforward victim, the series places her choices, behaviour and perception at the centre of the narrative. As the investigation unfolds, the case moves beyond the police station and into the courtroom and media spotlight. Each space brings its own version of the truth, with questions around power, influence and public perception becoming increasingly important.
Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub plays Bhalerao, Meenu’s lawyer, while Ram Kapoor takes on the role of Baapji’s legal representative. Their courtroom face-off adds another layer to the battle, as both sides attempt to shape how Meenu’s allegations are understood.
Aneet Padda on playing Meenu
Speaking about playing Meenu, Aneet Padda said the character is not defined by what happened to her but by what she chooses to do afterwards. She described Meenu as young, complicated and not always easy to understand, adding that her refusal to be silenced remains a constant through her journey.
On the other hand, Fatima Sana Shaikh said she was drawn to ACP Jasleen Singh Soni’s sense of responsibility. Her character must navigate power, influence, public opinion and the pressure surrounding a case of such magnitude while continuing to search for the truth.

Hunkkaar: The Roar is produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, in association with Purple Pebble Pictures and A Mangata Films Production. Priyanka Chopra Jonas serves as executive producer.
The series is directed by Karan D Kapadia, Nitya Mehra and Heeraz Marfatia. Hunkkaar: The Roar will premiere on JioHotstar on September 25.
