What is the story about?
On February 3, the makers of Manoj Bajpayee's Ghooskhor Pandat announced the film at the What's Next On Netflix event. Within days of the official announcement,
the project landed in trouble. A petition was filed in the Delhi High Court, stating that the title and promotional material indicate assocation of 'Pandat' term with corruption and bribery. Following this, its teaser was pulled down from YouTube. And now, Ghooskhor Pandat's title has been changed. Writer and producer Neeraj Pandey's cop drama is now called Gajab Raat. The streaming platform unveiled a fresh poster with its new title and trailer release date.

Neeraj Pandey on Ghooskhor Pandat title controversy
Earlier, Neeraj clarified the usage of term 'Pandat' in his film's title. Calling his movie a fictional cop drama, the produer revealed that the term was simply used as a colloquial name for a fictional character. He stated that the story focuses on an individual's actions and choices. Neeraj further mentioned that the title or movie doesn't comment on or represent any caste, religion or community.
"As a filmmaker, I approach my work with a deep sense of responsibility — to tell stories that are thoughtful and respectful. This film, like my earlier work, has been created with sincere intent and solely to entertain audiences. We understand that the title of the film has caused hurt to some viewers, and we genuinely acknowledge those feelings," he said.
Considering concerns around the film title, Neeraj decided to take down all promotional assets of the movie. The producer wanted audiences to experience the project in its entirety and understand the context of the story rather than be judged on partial glimpses.
