What is the story about?
Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar's Don 3 controversy is far from over. After the actor quit Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani's project, the producers approached
the Producers Guild of India with the Rs 45 crore damage claim. Following that, the makers took the matter to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and they recently approached Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA). After a meeting that was reportedly held on August 18, Ranveer's legal team submitted another letter to the association and warned of legal action.
Did Ranveer Singh Warn IMPPA Of Legal Action?
According to Mid-Day report, IMPPA had scheduled first meeting on August 14 after Farhan and Riteish approached them claiming Rs 45 crore in damages over Ranveer's exit from Don 3. An IMPPA member told the portal that Ranveer's legal team had sent a letter before the meeting mentioning that they did not have a formal agreement with Excel Entertainment, but a Memorandum of Understanding.
Countering the Rs 45 crore damage claim, Ranveer apparently submitted a formal defence. In the first letter, it was allegedly mentioned that association should dismiss the compaint as it doesn't fall under their jurisdiction. Following this, the meeting was apparently postponed and when Ranveer's father Jagjit Singh showed up, he was informed about the postponement.
The report further suggested that the meeting eventually took place on August 18. "Ranveer’s legal team submitted another letter that stated that Excel Entertainment had no grounds to complain, and if Farhan and Ritesh want, they can take the matter to court. It also said that if IMPPA passed any resolution, then Ranveer would take the legal route," a source said, adding that some people in IMPPA feel the actor should face the heat for walking out of a movie at the end moment. As per the report, the second letter apparently states that the body shouldn't intervene.
