What is the story about?
Alia Bhatt has seemingly shown support for her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, after a fan post defended the actor amid social media trolling over his recent Dussehra
speech and reports of a possible security threat. The post claimed Ranbir attended a Kolkata event despite allegedly knowing about a potential assassination attempt, although the reported threat has not been independently confirmed. Alia did not issue a public statement, but fans noticed that she appeared to like the post. The development comes amid reports linking the suspects in the Tiger Shroff firing case to an alleged recce of Ranbir's Bandra residence.
Alia Bhatt reportedly liked a fan post defending Ranbir Kapoor
Alia's apparent reaction came after a fan post defended Ranbir for attending a Kolkata event despite reports that the suspects involved in the firing incident targeting Tiger Shroff may also have surveyed the actor's residence. The post criticised social media users for mocking Ranbir Kapoor over a verbal slip during his Dussehra speech, arguing that the actor should not have been subjected to online abuse while allegedly dealing with security concerns.
The fan questioned why Ranbir had been trolled to the point of issuing an apology for stumbling over his words. Screenshots suggesting Alia had liked the post were subsequently shared by fan accounts.
"He knew about the assassination attempt before that Kolkata event. If it were anything else, the event would've been cancelled. but he's RANBIR KAPOOR. Despite everything he still showed up he still stood on an open stage in front of thousands of people and even tried to say a few words and what if he stumbled over his words? That's the most human reaction under these circumstances!!! But What did you do? Took that small clip, dragged him and trolled him to the point where he had to apologise?? and apology?? For What??? Not being able to deliver a speech while dealing with something this terrifying??" which Alia liked, post read.
However, Alia has not publicly commented on the reported threat or explained her apparent reaction. The claims surrounding the alleged attempt to attack Ranbir also remain unconfirmed.
Ranbir Kapoor faces trolling over Dussehra speech
Ranbir recently faced criticism after a video of his speech at a Dussehra celebration circulated online. While explaining the festival’s message of the triumph of good over evil, the actor said, "Dussehra hamein ek bahut khubsurat baat yaad dilati hai, ki burai chahe kitni bhi taqatwar kyun naa ho, aakhir mein ant sacchai aur achchai ki hi hogi."
His use of the Hindi word 'ant', meaning "end", instead of 'jeet', meaning "victory", prompted social media users to mock his choice of words. The actor subsequently addressed the controversy at the grand musical event and full-album launch of Ramayana in Chennai on October 21.
"I want to apologise for an incident that happened yesterday while I was at a Dussehra event. I had a slip of the tongue. What I was meant to say is 'burai chahe kitni bhi taqatwar kyun naa ho, aakhir mein jeet sacchai aur achchai ki hogi," Ranbir said, before clarifying that he had intended to say that truth and goodness would ultimately triumph over evil.
His apology brought renewed attention to the incident, with some fans defending him while others continued discussing the speech online.
Tiger Shroff firing case
The controversy surrounding Ranbir's speech has unfolded alongside reports about the investigation into the firing incident involving Tiger Shroff's vehicle in Mumbai's Juhu area. According to crime branch reports, the suspects arrested in connection with the case had allegedly planned to target another Bollywood personality and conducted a recce of Ranbir's residence in Bandra.
Investigators are reportedly examining the suspects' movements and possible connections as part of the wider probe. However, the available information does not establish that Ranbir was a confirmed target, and the reported surveillance does not by itself prove that he was facing an imminent threat.
