What is the story about?
Twenty-nine years after JP Dutta's Border, director Anurag Singh returned with its sequel, Border 2, in January this year. With Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan,
Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty in lead roles, the war drama did well at the box office. After the film was released, the makers officially announced Border 3. Nidhi Dutta and Bhushan Kumar will be back as producers for the third installment. Now, in an exclusive interview with Zoom, Nidhi has opened up about Border 3 and her takeaway from the feedback to part two. It also featured Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and others.
Nidhi Dutta on Border 3
Speaking exclusively to us, Nidhi revealed, "Border 3 has been in the works for some time. We had actually announced it with Bhushan ji just after the release of (Border) 2. I think in the next couple of months, you will hear big developments on that end."
She further reflected on the takeaway from reactions to Sunny Deol-starrer Border 2. She said, "So, post Border 2, I think the main takeaway from the film for me is that after the success, it's that patriotism is a feeling that is forever. No matter what generation comes and goes, that's a feeling that remains. Stories of valour, if told the right way, with the right emotional chords, can resonate with audiences worldwide and can be a commercial success."
The producer further mentioned, "At the same time, it gives you scope to make more movies, you know, where you can tell stories of our heroes. So that's what the takeaway has been."
Nidhi spills beans on General Harbaksh Singh's biopic
Apart from Border 3, Nidhi discussed another film, based on the life of military leader General Harbaksh Singh. It will reflect on his role during the 1965 Indo-Pak war. Nidhi revealed she started doing research after someone from the army told her about the military leader's story.
"I met with his daughter, Harmala ji, who was gracious enough to entrust me with her father's life rights and his story. I hope I can make her father proud and I can make my father proud in telling this story. He is such a huge part of our history. If you ever look into the kind of contribution he has had towards the armed forces and into shaping the country, you will realise what a story it is. I mean it has to reach our audiences, it has to reach every home in India and abroad. Every Indian should know about him and that's what we aim to do and hopefully we'll be able to achieve that. I'm sure we will," she shared.
