What Did Arijit Singh's Manager Say About The Singer Coming Out Of Retirement?
Arijit Singh's manager told The Print that the singer is just completing the projects that were finalised before the retirement was announced. The manager made it clear that Arijit isn't making a comeback to playback singing, adding that these are simply old commitments he had signed up for.
This clarification comes as the buzz around his track Yeh Awarapan is making many think he is returning to films full-time.
Arijit Singh Shocked Fans With Retirement Announcement
Arijit Singh had stunned everyone in January when he announced he was quitting playback singing. The singer said he would not be taking any new assignments as a playback singer. In his post, he wrote that he wanted to thank fans for all the love over the years and that he was calling it off, calling it a wonderful journey.
Later, he clarified he wasn't quitting music altogether. He explained that he wanted to return to Indian classical music and start fresh as an artist. He also admitted he gets bored quickly, which is why he keeps changing arrangements of his songs during live shows, and wanted to explore different kinds of music.
Despite the retirement, Arijit still had pending commitments to finish. Reports suggest he actually has a backlog of songs that will keep releasing until 2027, even after his announcement.
He has also continued performing live. Just a week after his retirement post, he performed in Kolkata alongside sitar player Anoushka Shankar and percussionist Bickram Ghosh.
Awarapan 2 Release Date, Cast
The song Yeh Awarapan is composed by Amaal Malik, with lyrics penned by Rashmi Virag, and was released on July 21 across streaming platforms.
Awarapan 2 also stars Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Surendra Vicky, Vijayant Kohli, and Atul Kumar in key roles alongside Emraan Hashmi.
The film is directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui, and is set to release in theatres on August 14, 2026.
The original Awarapan remains a cult favourite among Emraan Hashmi's fans, which is why the sequel and its music have generated so much excitement.
