Bigg Boss 19 has kept audiences hooked to it since day one. The reality show, hosted by Salman Khan, premiered on August 24 this year. Within a month of
its grand premiere, Bigg Boss 19 has reportedly landed in a controversy. According to a media report, Phonographic Performance Limited, India's oldest licensing organisation, has sent a legal notice to the BB 19 makers. PPL has alleged that the Bigg Boss 19 made unauthorised use of copyrighted music.
Salman Khan's Bigg Boss 19 in legal trouble?
As per a Mid-Day report, PPL has demanded Rs 2 crore from Bigg Boss 19 makers in damages and license fee for the alleged infringement. According to notice, as reported by the tabloid, that the makers of BB 19 used the songs Chikni Chameli from Agneepath and Dhat Tere Ki from Gori Tere Pyaar Mein in episode 11.
The organisation has reportedly accused Endemol Shine India of using the sound recordings without securing mandatory public performance license. As per the report, advocate advocate Hiten Ajay Wasan served the notice, dated September 19.

Talking about unauthorised usage, a source from legal team told the tabloid, "Both songs are licensed to Sony Music Entertainment India, one of the 450-plus music labels whose public performance rights are exclusively administered by PPL. PPL argues that because Endemol Shine India did not obtain a licence under Section 30 of the Copyright Act 1957, the use amounts to a ‘wilful infringement’."
Bigg Boss 19 makers asked to pay Rs 2 crore?
Meanwhile, PPL has apparently asked the Bigg Boss 19 makers to pay Rs 2 crore. Moreover, it has reportedly issued a cease and desist notice from using its recording without authorisation.
As far as BB 19 is concerned, the reality show airs on Colors TV a 10:30 pm and streams on JioHotstar at 9 pm.
