On the film’s anniversary, the veteran actor took to social media to pen a heartfelt note, recalling how Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan were first offered the role before him and thanking director S. Shankar for eventually choosing him. Anil Kapoor Marks 24 Years Of Nayak Sharing photos with SRK and some stills from the film, he wrote, "Some roles define you. Nayak was one of them." He added, "First offered to Aamir & Shah Rukh, but I knew I had to live this character... and I’m grateful Shankar sir trusted me. About Nayak
Nayak: The Real Hero, starring Anil Kapoor in the lead role, hit the screens in 2001. It also featured Rani Mukerji, Amrish Puri, and Paresh Rawal. Directed by S Shankar, the film is a remake of his own Tamil hit Mudhalvan.
The story follows Shivaji Rao Gaekwad (played by Anil), a TV journalist who challenges the corrupt Chief Minister (Puri) during a live interview. The CM dares him to take over his position for one day. Shivaji accepts and, in just 24 hours, exposes corruption, implements reforms, and wins the people’s support. This leads to him eventually becoming the CM for real.
