What is the story about?
The makers of The India Story have unveiled the film's first official poster, offering a glimpse of lead stars Shreyas Talpade and Kajal Aggarwal in their
on-screen roles. The film, directed by Chettan DK and produced by Sagar B Shinde, is slated to arrive in cinemas on July 24, 2026, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. While the newly released poster has generated curiosity around the project, the film has already fallen into a legal row. The notice sent to the makers challenges certain claims that were made in the teaser of the film. The legal row brings additional attention to the theatrical release of the film later in the month of July.
Poster Introduces Lead Characters
The newly launched poster presents Shreyas Talpade and Kajal Aggarwal in distinctive avatars and serves as the first major promotional asset from the film. The India Story movie follows the story around concerns linked to food adulteration and the wider impact of harmful practices within the food supply chain. The fight for accountability in the matter exposes an irresponsible regulatory system.
The project made on a major issue had already sparked conversation after its teaser release, which highlighted issues related to the usage of pesticides, food contamination and its impact on public health. With the character poster now out, the makers seem to have continued their promotional campaign despite the controversy surrounding the teaser. The film will also feature Murli Sharma and Manish Wadhwa in key roles and is expected to release across multiple languages later this year.
Legal Notice Questions Teaser's Claims
On June 15, 2026, advocate Hiranya Pandey issued an 18-page legal notice on behalf of his client Bhavesh Sodha, proprietor of Agri Business Centre, raising objections to several elements shown in the teaser. The notice served alleges that certain representations in the teaser for The India Story, concerning India's agriculture, dairy and poultry sectors, are misleading and lack adequate scientific backing.
Among the concerns highlighted in the teaser are references to pesticide usage, milk adulteration, and visuals that are believed to create a misleading impression among viewers.
The notice also objects to suggestions linking agricultural practices with serious health conditions like cancer. Reports state that copies of the notice were sent to Zee Studios, MIG Production & Studios LLP and the film's team, while the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has also reportedly been informed. The complainant has sought clarification regarding the data used shown in the teaser to support the claims made. The notice has further requested a review of the promotional content and data cited in the film.
The filmmakers have reportedly been given seven days to respond, with the possibility of further legal action if the concerns mentioned in the notice remain unresolved.
