What's Happening?
The University of Vermont has launched a new facility aimed at advancing the commercial development of gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor technologies. This initiative, known as the Vermont Gallium Nitride Tech Hub, is a collaboration between the University of Vermont,
the State of Vermont, and GlobalFoundries. The facility, called the Test and Characterization Facility, will provide companies nationwide with access to specialized equipment and expertise necessary for transitioning GaN technology from the laboratory to practical applications. GaN semiconductors are noted for their ability to operate at higher voltages and frequencies with greater efficiency compared to traditional silicon-based technologies.
