What's Happening?
OutSystems has announced the general availability of its Agent Experience platform, designed to integrate AI coding agents like Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Kiro into enterprise software development. This new offering, unveiled at the OutSystems World
Tour Las Vegas, aims to address the challenges of operational overhead and fragmented code often associated with AI-generated code. According to Woodson Martin, CEO of OutSystems, the Agent Experience provides the speed of coding agents while ensuring compliance, security, and scalability for mission-critical systems. The platform allows for sovereign deployment options and architectural coherence, making it suitable for heavily regulated industries. Early access customers, including YESCO, Lowenstein Sandler, and Normal, have already utilized the platform to compress deployment timelines and scale governed agentic systems. The platform's features include the ability to build with any AI agent while enforcing system dependencies and business logic, maintaining full control through strict security and automated testing, and offering flexible deployment across cloud, hybrid, or on-premise environments.
Why It's Important?
The launch of OutSystems Agent Experience is significant for U.S. businesses, particularly those in regulated sectors, as it directly addresses the growing need for secure and compliant integration of AI into software development. A recent developer survey indicated that 74% of AI-generated code requires substantial rework or is never deployed to production, highlighting a major bottleneck. This platform aims to eliminate that bottleneck by allowing external AI coding agents to shape architecture while OutSystems deterministically generates code, thereby minimizing risk and accelerating production timelines. For industries like legal and manufacturing, as demonstrated by Lowenstein Sandler and YESCO, this means faster development cycles, reduced vulnerabilities, and the ability to deploy cutting-edge agentic applications with enterprise-grade governance. The platform's emphasis on architectural integrity, security, and compliance is crucial for companies navigating increasing AI regulation, ensuring that innovation does not come at the expense of reliability or data security.
What's Next?
OutSystems Agent Experience is now generally available, allowing enterprises to immediately begin integrating governed AI coding agents into their development workflows. OutSystems also plans to expand its Agentic Industry Solutions portfolio, with the launch of Agentic First Notice of Loss for the insurance sector in November. This will include pre-built claims agents and an Insurance Agent Kit on OutSystems Forge. These new offerings, alongside the recently launched Agentic Loan Applications for banking, are designed to accelerate AI adoption in regulated industries. Customers will be able to customize these components using their preferred coding agents through the Agent Experience platform. The company will continue to showcase its innovations and provide updates through its on-demand hub, following the OutSystems World Tour Las Vegas keynote.
Beyond the Headlines
The introduction of OutSystems Agent Experience points to a broader shift in how U.S. enterprises are approaching AI integration. Beyond the immediate benefits of speed and compliance, the platform's focus on 'architectural coherence' and 'governance guardrails' suggests a move towards more responsible and ethical AI development. By minimizing technical debt and ensuring code reuse, the platform could foster a more sustainable approach to AI-driven innovation, preventing the proliferation of fragmented and unmanageable AI solutions. The ability to deploy applications and AI agents across various environments (cloud, hybrid, on-premise) also highlights the increasing importance of data sovereignty and control, especially for organizations dealing with sensitive information or operating under strict regulatory frameworks. This development could set a new standard for how AI coding agents are utilized in enterprise settings, emphasizing trust and reliability alongside efficiency.
