NantStudios has unveiled its Dynamic Volume System, an innovative LED volume technology that replaces a fixed LED wall with modular 'wall pods.' These pods can be reconfigured into various shapes, such as long arcs, tight curves, or floating panels, allowing
for greater flexibility in virtual production environments. This system, showcased at NantStudios' El Segundo campus, enables the stage to adapt to the shoot's requirements rather than the other way around. The wall pods come in flat and curved variations, and their precise alignment is maintained through airbags that adjust for roll, pitch, and yaw, correcting for uneven floors. The system also integrates lighting directly into the pods and uses a mobile 'Brain Bar' for control, which can be split into mini Brain Bars for simultaneous operations. Motion-capture cameras track the picture camera, and the system requires rescanning and redefinition of the mocap system whenever the wall configuration changes.
