What's Happening?
Leeds United, in collaboration with Red Bull, organized a unique event in New York City to launch their 2026/27 home kit. The event, named 'New Yorkshire Cafe,' was held at Socceria, a popular sports bar
in Brooklyn, as part of the club's U.S. pre-season tour. The event aimed to connect New Yorkers with their historical roots linked to the UK’s Duke of York. Attendees included fans, guests, and the entire Leeds United pre-season squad, who showcased the new home jersey. The event featured British-American fusion cuisine served by Leeds legends and included a live DJ set and a Q&A session hosted by content creator Khendrick Beausoleil. Robbie Evans, Managing Director for Leeds United, expressed satisfaction with the tour's success and the support received in the U.S.
Why It's Important?
The event signifies Leeds United's strategic efforts to expand their brand presence and fan base in the United States, a growing market for international soccer. By hosting such events, the club not only strengthens its connection with existing fans but also attracts new supporters, potentially increasing merchandise sales and viewership. The collaboration with Red Bull, a brand with a strong global presence, further amplifies the reach and impact of the event. This initiative reflects the broader trend of European football clubs seeking to capitalize on the expanding popularity of soccer in the U.S., which could lead to increased commercial opportunities and partnerships.
