Pine64 has announced a complete halt in the production of its Linux-based devices, including Arm and RISC-V single-board computers, the PinePhone family, PineTab2 tablet, and PineNote e-reader. This decision, communicated via its official Telegram news
channel, is attributed to the ongoing shortage of DRAM and eMMC memory components. The company anticipates that its remaining stock of PineNote and PineTab2 will last approximately three months. Production of microcontroller-based products, such as the PineTime smartwatch, PineVoice smart speaker, and Pinecil soldering iron, will continue unaffected. Development for the upcoming PineTime Pro is also proceeding. Pine64's decision to cease production rather than reprice its products contrasts with other small-board makers like Raspberry Pi and Framework, which have raised prices to cope with increased component costs.
