Celero Communications, a two-year-old chip startup based in Irvine, California, has successfully raised $275 million in a Series C funding round, valuing the company at over $3 billion. The round was co-led by Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners,
and CapitalG, Alphabet’s growth fund, with additional participation from existing investors Sutter Hill Ventures and Maverick Silicon. This latest funding brings Celero's total capital raised to $415 million. Celero specializes in developing coherent digital signal processors (DSPs) that encode data onto light, enabling more data to travel further through fiber optic cables. The company aims to deploy coherent optics within AI data centers, from racks to inter-data center links, arguing that current methods like PAM4 are becoming insufficient for the growing demands of AI clusters. Celero claims to have validated the industry's first coherent DSP made on TSMC's 2-nanometer process, which is the most advanced commercially available technology.
