What's Happening?
Istituto Marangoni Paris has announced a collaboration with the Dutch fashion house Viktor&Rolf for the 2026-2027 academic year. This partnership involves an immersive mentorship program where students will engage in designing the spring/summer 2028 women's
ready-to-wear collection. The initiative is structured as an Industry Project, allowing students to delve into the strategic and conceptual aspects of a major luxury brand. The program includes creating artistic directions, lookbooks, and innovative presentation formats for Paris Fashion Week. Viktor&Rolf, known for their theatrical and conceptual shows, will guide students through this process, culminating in a final presentation to the brand's executives.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration is significant as it bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world industry experience. By working with Viktor&Rolf, students gain firsthand insight into the operations of a global luxury brand, enhancing their professional readiness. The project not only fosters creativity but also emphasizes the importance of adapting to market demands, a crucial skill in the evolving fashion industry. This initiative reflects a broader trend in fashion education, where schools are increasingly partnering with industry leaders to provide students with practical, career-oriented experiences.
What's Next?
The mentorship program will commence with a masterclass in November, followed by online sessions with Viktor&Rolf's creative studio. The final presentation will take place in Paris, where students will showcase their work to the brand's executives. Successful participants may secure internships at Viktor&Rolf's headquarters in Amsterdam, offering them a direct pathway into the fashion industry. Additionally, students will have access to a major Couture exhibition dedicated to Viktor&Rolf, further enriching their educational experience.

This partnership highlights the evolving role of fashion education in preparing students for the complexities of the industry. By integrating practical projects with academic learning, institutions like Istituto Marangoni Paris are redefining the educational landscape. The collaboration also underscores the importance of innovation in fashion presentation formats, a response to the industry's ongoing quest for creativity and renewal.
