What's Happening?
The Royal Group Phnom Penh SEZ Plc (PPSP), listed on the Cambodia Securities Exchange, is set to double its outstanding shares through a 1-for-1 bonus share issue. This strategic move aims to improve trading liquidity without altering the company's overall
market value or the proportional ownership of its shareholders. The company received regulatory approval for this additional listing on June 12, 2026, following shareholder authorization in December 2025. Under this plan, PPSP will issue over 71.5 million new ordinary voting shares, with existing shareholders receiving one bonus share for each share they currently hold. The ex-bonus date is set for July 27, meaning investors purchasing shares on or after this date will not be eligible for the bonus shares. The new shares are scheduled to be allotted on August 3, with trading expected to commence on August 4.
Why It's Important?
This bonus share issue is significant as it aims to increase market liquidity by expanding the number of shares available for trading. While it does not raise additional capital for PPSP, it lowers the share price, making the stock more accessible to a broader range of investors. This move is particularly beneficial for smaller retail investors who might be discouraged by higher share prices. By increasing the free float and reducing the per-share trading price, PPSP seeks to encourage greater trading activity and broaden its investor base. This strategy is a common practice among listed companies to enhance marketability and attract more investors.
What's Next?
Following the bonus share issue, PPSP's share price is expected to adjust to reflect the increased number of shares in circulation. The theoretical ex-bonus share price is anticipated to be around KHR 1,010 per share. This adjustment does not change the company's underlying market value or shareholders' proportional ownership. Over time, the increased share count is expected to enhance liquidity, improve accessibility for retail investors, and support more active trading on the Cambodia Securities Exchange. Stakeholders will be observing how this move impacts trading volumes and investor interest in the coming months.
