Fisk University, located in Tennessee, is slated to participate in the 2026 HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships. The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation (GNOSF) has been awarded the bid to host these championships,
which will take place on Friday, October 16, 2026, at City Park in New Orleans. The event will feature a 5K race for women and an 8K race for men, bringing student-athletes from various Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the conference to compete for individual and team titles. DJ Wild Wayne of Q93 (New Orleans) will serve as the meet emcee and DJ. The HBCUAC, which includes 15 member institutions with Jarvis Christian University joining as the 16th in 2026-27, is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). This event aims to highlight the strength and growth of HBCU athletics and provide an opportunity to showcase HBCU culture in New Orleans.
