facade sections for the attraction's massive Mayan pyramid are now being installed. These colorful facade pieces feature red stone with intricate decorative scroll details, highlighted by bright blue paint. Cables were used to lift these sections into place, with only the top and bottom thirds of the temple currently adorned with the new facade. The middle section remains a bare structure, and while the front is painted, the back shows crumbling brown rock. The facade pieces were created and painted backstage over several months at the Disney Imagineering offices near Animal Kingdom, matching the design of a miniature ride model previously showcased at D23.
