The Rockford Park District has officially opened the new Home Base Sports Fields at Darryl F. Lindberg Park in Loves Park. This new facility is designed to provide an inclusive environment for the All Stars and Buddy Baseball programs. The Home Base Sports Fields feature
two baseball diamonds equipped with accessible playing surfaces and dugouts, ensuring that individuals of all abilities can participate. Additionally, the project included an updated parking lot, paved paths, and a pavilion, all aimed at enhancing accessibility and creating a more inclusive experience. Kuenzi Dearth, Therapeutic Recreation Manager, emphasized that the goal of these fields is to create equal opportunities for play, teamwork, and skill development, fostering a sense of belonging, confidence, and inclusion for all participants.
