Eric Wu, founder of Opendoor, has launched a new company called NavigateAI, which emerged from stealth in May with $25 million in seed funding. NavigateAI aims to tackle the significant labor shortage in the construction industry by providing AI copilots
for construction workers and other field laborers. The company's core product operates on smartphones and Meta's AI glasses, allowing workers to point a camera at their work and ask questions in plain language about installation, torque, and code compliance. NavigateAI can access building specifications, manufacturer manuals, and company policies in real-time. The construction industry faces a substantial worker deficit, with the Associated Builders and Contractors indicating a need for approximately 349,000 additional workers this year.
