Havelar, a Portuguese construction company, has successfully completed a 500 m² recycling center office in Matosinhos using 3D printing technology. The project, completed in just nine days, showcases the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of 3D construction printing.
The use of a COBOD BOD2 printer allowed the project to stay within budget, a notable achievement given the historical cost overruns in public construction projects in Portugal. The building features curved walls, which are typically expensive to construct using conventional methods but were produced directly from digital models without additional labor or material costs. This project highlights the potential of 3D printing to revolutionize public sector construction by reducing time, materials, and workforce requirements.
