New research from Korn Ferry indicates that the adoption of artificial intelligence in the workplace is leading to significantly increased workloads and employee exhaustion, rather than reducing them. The study, which surveyed over 16,000 professionals
across 11 global markets, found that nearly two-thirds of employees have experienced heavier workloads in the past two years. Despite 79% of CEOs believing AI has increased efficiency, only 51% of individual contributors agree, and 52% of employees report that AI tools have increased tasks. Data shows a 104% jump in email time, a 145% surge in chat and messaging time, and a 94% rise in business management tool usage after AI adoption. Weekend work has also exploded, with productive hours on Saturdays up 46% and Sundays up 58%, while daily focus time for AI users drops by 9%.
