and plant-forward diets, which saw a 45% decrease. The study involved adults who were guided to lose approximately 10% of their starting body weight across all three dietary groups. Despite similar weight loss outcomes, the ketogenic group, consuming about 4% of calories from carbohydrates and 73% from fat, showed a two- to threefold greater improvement in liver insulin sensitivity. Furthermore, average glucose levels over 24 hours fell by about 20% in the ketogenic group, compared to 8% in the other groups. Approximately half of the keto participants no longer met the criteria for prediabetes by the end of the four- to five-month intervention, in contrast to 29% in the Mediterranean group and 7% in the plant-forward group.
