Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, a new nature-inspired resort near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, is progressing with the installation of themed oversized otter structures in its Otter Springs aquatic play area. These wood-style animal figures,
including a central stylized otter, closely match Disney’s concept art for The Wetlands recreation complex. Bright turquoise slides and enclosed crawl-through tubes are positioned around the figures, with small green bridges and stairways connecting parts of the play structures. Numerous pipes protruding from the concrete indicate future interactive fountains and spray effects. The resort, scheduled to open in summer 2027, will feature 967 accommodations, including studios, suites, and waterfront Lake Houses inspired by films like 'Brother Bear.' Construction is also active on guest room balconies, roof overhangs, and exterior architectural details, with permanent dark metal railings now in place on many balconies. The Wetlands complex will also include the looping Daydream River lazy river and Perspective Pond, a leisure pool with views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.
