What's Happening?
Azamara Cruises has relaunched its 'Experience More' (ExMo) packages, introducing three new pricing tiers: Essentials, Enjoyment, and Indulgence. These updated packages will be applicable to sailings departing from September 24, 2026, and are priced at $59,
$79, and $99 per person, per day, respectively. All three tiers include unlimited Starlink Plus Wi-Fi, a beverage package, and a daily shore excursion credit. The higher-tier packages, Enjoyment and Indulgence, offer additional benefits such as specialty dining, laundry, and spa credits. This revamp follows extensive feedback from over 1,700 guests, who highlighted Wi-Fi, beverages, and dining as their most valued amenities. Furthermore, Azamara Cruises CEO Dondra Ritzenthaler announced a flat 10 percent commission for travel advisors on all ExMo packages booked pre-cruise, a direct response to feedback from their advisor partners. Guests sharing a stateroom are required to purchase the same package tier, and these packages are not available on charter sailings, World Cruises, or Grand Voyages.
Why It's Important?
This strategic overhaul of Azamara's 'Experience More' packages is significant for several reasons. By introducing tiered pricing and including highly desired amenities like unlimited Starlink Plus Wi-Fi, Azamara is directly addressing evolving consumer expectations for value and connectivity in luxury cruising. This move could enhance guest satisfaction and attract new customers seeking a more inclusive and predictable vacation cost. The flat 10 percent commission for travel advisors on pre-cruise bookings is a crucial incentive that strengthens relationships with this vital sales channel. It encourages advisors to actively promote Azamara's packages, potentially leading to increased bookings and market share. This initiative also reflects a broader industry trend of cruise lines adapting their offerings to provide more transparent and comprehensive pricing structures, moving away from numerous à la carte charges. The changes aim to simplify the booking process for both guests and advisors, making Azamara a more attractive option in the competitive cruise market.
What's Next?
With the new 'Experience More' packages set to launch for sailings from September 24, 2026, Azamara will closely monitor their adoption rates and guest feedback. The company will likely engage in marketing campaigns to promote the new tiers and highlight the enhanced value proposition. Travel advisors are expected to integrate these new commission structures into their sales strategies, potentially leading to a boost in pre-cruise package bookings. Azamara will also need to ensure its operational capabilities, particularly regarding Wi-Fi bandwidth and service delivery for included amenities, can meet the increased demand. The success of these revamped packages could influence future pricing strategies and amenity inclusions across the cruise industry, as competitors observe Azamara's approach to guest satisfaction and travel advisor relations. Continuous evaluation and potential adjustments to the packages based on market response will be key for Azamara.
Beyond the Headlines
The revamp of Azamara's 'Experience More' packages signals a deeper understanding of the modern luxury traveler's desire for both personalization and predictability. The tiered approach allows guests to tailor their experience while still benefiting from an all-inclusive feel, addressing the paradox of choice often present in luxury travel. The emphasis on unlimited Starlink Plus Wi-Fi underscores the growing importance of seamless connectivity as a fundamental expectation, even in remote travel settings, reflecting a broader societal shift towards constant digital engagement. Furthermore, the enhanced commission for travel advisors highlights the enduring value of human expertise and personalized service in the travel planning process, even in an increasingly digital world. This move could foster greater loyalty among advisors and reinforce their role as trusted intermediaries, ultimately benefiting the cruise line through sustained sales and positive word-of-mouth referrals. It also suggests a strategic recognition that a strong partnership with the travel trade is essential for long-term growth in the luxury segment.
