Europcar Ireland has launched an electric airport shuttle bus service at Dublin Airport (DUB), making it the first vehicle rental provider at the airport to do so. Eddie Murphy, Europcar Ireland’s Operations Director, stated that this initiative is a significant
step in demonstrating the company's commitment to reducing emissions and managing costs. The new service utilizes a Renault Master E-Tech 100% electric minibus, which boasts a range of 460 kilometers. This allows the minibus to complete approximately 80 return journeys before requiring a recharge at the Europcar rental station. During peak hours, the electric minibus is expected to perform around 24 round trips daily, transporting an average of 10 people per trip. By complementing its existing diesel fleet with this electric vehicle, Europcar anticipates saving approximately 18 tonnes of carbon per year, which is equivalent to planting over 800 trees.
