Saval Foods, a family-owned foodservice distribution company, has begun construction on a new 230,000-square-foot headquarters and distribution center in Columbia, Maryland. This expansion project, a collaboration with Howard Hughes Communities, will
include a state-of-the-art distribution center and a multi-story office building. According to a press release from Governor Wes Moore's office, the development aims to retain Saval Foods' current 391 full-time employees and generate an additional 107 new full-time positions in Maryland over the next four years. The new facility, located in the Columbia Gateway area, will consolidate the company's corporate offices and two existing Howard County businesses: Saval Foodservice and 1932 Specialty Produce & Meat. This strategic move is intended to enhance operational efficiency, foster collaboration, and provide space for future company growth.
