What's Happening?
The Vegas Golden Knights have announced their preseason schedule for the upcoming 2026-27 NHL season. This year marks a change in the NHL's preseason format, reducing the number of games from seven to four, while expanding the regular season to 84 games.
The Golden Knights will play their first preseason game against the Los Angeles Kings on September 19 in Ontario, California. They will then face the San Jose Sharks on September 22 at the SAP Center. The team will conclude their preseason with two home games at T-Mobile Arena against the Utah Mammoth on September 24 and the Sharks on September 26.
Why It's Important?
The reduction in preseason games and the expansion of the regular season reflect a strategic shift in the NHL's scheduling, likely aimed at increasing the competitiveness and viewership of regular-season games. For the Golden Knights, this schedule provides an opportunity to test new strategies and player combinations ahead of the regular season. Fans will have the chance to see the team's new roster and any changes made during the offseason. This adjustment may also impact player conditioning and team dynamics, as teams have fewer games to prepare before the regular season begins.
