The Desert Hills High School girls' tennis team has won the 4A state championship, accumulating 40 points to secure their fifth girls' state title. The victory was significantly bolstered by the performances of sisters LuLu and Stella Shiozawa, who both
clinched individual singles titles. Freshman LuLu Shiozawa, despite being a No. 2 seed, triumphed in the No. 1 singles match against Orem freshman Sydney Eraso with a score of 6-2, 7-6 (7-5). This marked LuLu's first win against Eraso in four attempts. Junior Stella Shiozawa secured her second consecutive individual title in No. 2 singles, defeating Highland’s Caroline Gardner 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Other notable results included Grace Fotheringham of Highland winning No. 3 singles, and Deer Creek and Green Canyon teams winning No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, respectively.
