What's Happening?
Simon & Schuster UK and International has introduced Simon Stream, a new digital-focused fiction imprint targeting self-published authors. The imprint, led by S&S UK publishing director Victoria Pepe, aims to bridge the gap between self-publishing and traditional
publishing. Simon Stream will publish globally in paperback, e-book, and audiobook formats, starting with a new five-book 'cozy crime' series by Jack Gatland. The imprint offers a 50% net royalty on e-book sales, significantly higher than the typical rate offered by traditional publishers.
Why It's Important?
The launch of Simon Stream represents a significant shift in the publishing industry, acknowledging the success and potential of self-published authors. By offering higher royalties and maintaining the benefits of traditional publishing, Simon Stream provides a compelling option for authors seeking broader distribution and professional support. This initiative could influence other publishers to adopt similar models, potentially reshaping the landscape of publishing by integrating the strengths of both self-publishing and traditional methods.
