What's Happening?
McLaren Special Operations has reconstructed the M6GT, a road-going supercar originally envisioned by Bruce McLaren in the 1960s. The car was built using a chassis from an M6A race car and original body molds that had been modified over time. This reconstruction
aims to stay true to Bruce McLaren's original vision, combining restored parts with newly built components. The M6GT features a period-accurate small-block Chevy V-8 engine and a five-speed manual gearbox. The car will be showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, alongside other historical McLaren models.
Why It's Important?
The reconstruction of the M6GT highlights McLaren's commitment to preserving its heritage and honoring the vision of its founder, Bruce McLaren. This project not only serves as a tribute to the company's history but also showcases the craftsmanship and attention to detail that McLaren is known for. By displaying the M6GT at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, McLaren reinforces its legacy in the automotive world and connects with enthusiasts who appreciate the brand's historical significance.
