Randolph Mantooth, renowned for his role as paramedic Johnny Gage on the 1970s TV series 'Emergency!', has died at the age of 80. Mantooth passed away on July 9 in Ventura, after a long illness, as reported by his brother. He gained fame in 1972 with
'Emergency!', a show that brought the paramedic profession into the public eye. Mantooth co-starred with Kevin Tighe and performed most of his own stunts during the series' six-season run on NBC. Beyond 'Emergency!', Mantooth appeared in various TV shows, including 'Adam-12', 'Dallas', and 'The Love Boat', and had a significant presence in soap operas such as 'Loving' and 'General Hospital'. Born in Sacramento, Mantooth was of Cherokee and Seminole descent and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and is survived by his wife Kristen and siblings Donald and Tonya.
