Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated Micron Technology's Semiconductor Assembly, Test and Packaging (ATMP) facility in Sanand, Gujarat. This event marks a significant milestone for India's semiconductor manufacturing ambitions, as commercial production
and shipment of 'made-in-India' semiconductor memory modules have officially commenced from this plant. The facility represents the first project approved under the India Semiconductor Mission, with a total investment exceeding 22,500 crore rupees. The plant, which broke ground in September 2023, is now equipped to convert advanced DRAM and NAND wafers into finished products for global markets. It features a nearly 500,000 square feet cleanroom space, making it one of the largest raised-floor cleanrooms globally.
