Applied Materials, a leading semiconductor equipment company, has introduced its new EPIC (Equipment and Process Innovation and Commercialization Center) platform and the Applied Collaboration Center Korea (ACCK) to foster innovation in the semiconductor industry.
The EPIC platform, recently launched in Silicon Valley, aims to facilitate rapid co-innovation with customers and partners by identifying immediate challenges through roadmaps and promoting close collaboration. Mukund Srinivasan, executive vice president of Applied Materials' Packaging Business and Integrated Materials Solutions Group, emphasized that the core idea of EPIC is to enable partners to work side-by-side to determine areas for deeper collaboration. The platform includes major U.S. chipmakers such as NVIDIA Corporation, Intel, and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD), as well as international companies like Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC), Samsung Electronics, and SK hynix. The ACCK, established in Korea, is designed to commercialize these innovations, with a lab under construction in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, to work with customers on semiconductor equipment technology development and mass-production validation.
