FPF Defense, under the leadership of former Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher C. Miller, is developing AI-enabled kinetic interceptors to address the cost-asymmetry in countering mass-produced attack drones. The initiative, supported by a strategic
investment from RSE Ventures and Ondas Inc., focuses on the SmartFlak system, which includes the Hammerhead interceptor designed to neutralize Shahed-class drones. This development comes in response to recent conflicts highlighting the inefficiency of traditional missile interceptors against low-cost drones. FPF Defense aims to produce these interceptors at a significantly lower cost, enhancing U.S. air defense capabilities.
