Acacia Africa has published its first Accommodation Impact Report, which reveals that 72% of its accommodation portfolio significantly impacts conservation, community, culture, and experience. The report evaluated 50 properties across 11 African countries,
categorizing them into four tiers based on their impact. Community connection was identified as the strongest pillar, with 80% of properties engaging directly with local communities. The report also noted that three-quarters of the accommodations offer immersive experiences, and two-thirds are involved in conservation efforts. Examples include Malealea Lodge in Lesotho, which combines pony trekking with storytelling, and Mlilwane Rest Camp in Eswatini, offering traditional beehive hut stays and guided village walks.
