What's Happening?
Aspen Hospitality, a division of Aspen One, has announced the introduction of Nell Hotels, a new luxury hotel brand. This launch includes The Nell New York, which is set to open in fall 2027 at Rockefeller Center. The Nell New York will be the first and only
hotel within Rockefeller Center and the only Relais & Châteaux property in New York City. The project involves an investment exceeding $350 million. The hotel will be located at 10 Rockefeller Plaza, occupying former office space, and will feature 134 rooms. Amenities will include a seventh-floor arrival area, an all-day dining venue, a lobby bar, a wine lounge, and a spa. A fine dining restaurant is planned for the 17th floor, offering views of Rockefeller Center. The design will be influenced by the Art Deco style and architectural features of Rockefeller Center, and the property will include an art collection with works from both New York-based and international artists.
Why It's Important?
The opening of The Nell New York at Rockefeller Center represents a significant development in the luxury hotel market in New York City. As the only Relais & Châteaux property in the city, it will likely attract a high-end clientele seeking unique cultural and dining experiences. The investment of over $350 million underscores the confidence in the luxury hospitality sector's growth potential. This development could enhance the appeal of Rockefeller Center as a destination, potentially boosting tourism and local business. The inclusion of art collections and fine dining options aligns with trends in luxury hospitality that emphasize unique, culturally rich experiences.
What's Next?
The Nell New York is scheduled to open in fall 2027, and its development will be closely watched by stakeholders in the hospitality and real estate sectors. The temporary closure and renovation of The Little Nell in Aspen, another property under Nell Hotels, will also be significant as it aims to enhance its offerings for the 2027-2028 ski season. Future expansions of Nell Hotels could further impact the luxury hotel market, with potential new locations adding to the brand's portfolio.
